The blood of Olympus is about 7 demigods who have to travel all the way around the world to ancient Greece to save everyone on the planet. As they travel over seas they encounter a lot of traps and monsters sent to slow them down. There relation ships play a big role in how the story plays out because of the sacrifices they have to make.
Percy and Annebeth couple since the first book but their relationship had been complicated after their trip to Tartarus. In the 4th book of the series (the book before this one) Annebeth and Percy had fallen into tartarus and had to escape. The air was poison and the rivers were fire but they and made it through. After that Percy hadn’t been the same, he had nightmares and seemed distant.
Piper’s relationship with Jason was very complicated, it might have been the first time in history a Greek and roman were dating. But especially what had happened a couple days back when Jason saw his mom for the first time in 15 years. He became just like Percy, not explaining feelings and waking with a cold sweat.
Frank was jealous of Leo because he thought he was losing Hazel to him. Hazel constantly assured him Leo was a friend but with Leo Valdez and all his schemes he knew he couldn’t trust him. Hazel Levesque was originally from the 1940s but when she had died, since she was a daughter of hades, she was brought back to life in the 21st century. When Hazel was originally a kid she had been dating boy named Sammy who was Leos great, great grandfather. So when ever Hazel mentioned it Frank got red in the Face.

These relation ships have a big effect on the outcome of the story because when it comes down to saving lives it can be hard to choose to live or to sacrifice yourself for your loved ones.
